Manish Pandey 23d5f03ad0 cert_create: add Platform owned secure partitions support
Add support to generate a certificate named "plat-sp-cert" for Secure
Partitions(SP) owned by Platform.
Earlier a single certificate file "sip-sp-cert" was generated which
contained hash of all 8 SPs, with this change SPs are divided into
two categories viz "SiP owned" and "Plat owned" containing 4 SPs each.

Platform RoT key pair is used for signing.

Manish V Badarkhe 582e4e7b28 Makefile, doc: Make OPENSSL_DIR variable as build option for tools
Openssl directory path is hardcoded to '/usr' in the makefile
of certificate generation and firmware encryption tool using
'OPENSSL_DIR' variable.

Hence changes are done to make 'OPENSSL_DIR' variable as
a build option so that user can provide openssl directory
path while building the certificate generation and firmware
encryption tool.

Also, updated the document for this newly created build option

Manish Pandey 0792dd7d64 cert_create: add SiP owned secure partitions support
Add support to generate certificate "sip-sp-cert" for Secure
Partitions(SP) owned by Silicon provider(SiP).
To avoid deviation from TBBR specification the support is only added for
dualroot CoT and not for TBBR CoT.

A single certificate file is generated containing hash of individual
packages. Maximum 8 secure partitions are supported.

Following new options added to cert_tool:
 --sip-sp-cert --> SiP owned Secure Partition Content Certificate
 --sp-pkg1 --> Secure Partition Package1 file
 --sp-pkg2
 .....
 --sp-pkg8

Trusted world key pair is used for signing.

Going forward, this feature can be extended for Platfrom owned
Partitions, if required.

Manish V Badarkhe 45aecff003 Implement workaround for AT speculative behaviour
During context switching from higher EL (EL2 or higher)
to lower EL can cause incorrect translation in TLB due to
speculative execution of AT instruction using out-of-context
translation regime.

Workaround is implemented as below during EL's (EL1 or EL2)
"context_restore" operation:
1. Disable page table walk using SCTLR.M and TCR.EPD0 & EPD1
   bits for EL1 or EL2 (stage1 and stage2 disabled)
2. Save all system registers except TCR and SCTLR (for EL1 and EL2)
3. Do memory barrier operation (isb) to ensure all
   system register writes are done.
4. Restore TCR and SCTLR registers (for EL1 and EL2)

Errata details are available for various CPUs as below:
Cortex-A76: 1165522
Cortex-A72: 1319367
Cortex-A57: 1319537
Cortex-A55: 1530923

Merge the previously introduced arm_fconf_io_storage into arm_io_storage. This
removes the duplicate io_policies and functions definition.

This patch:
- replace arm_io_storage.c with the content of arm_fconf_io_storage.c
- rename the USE_FCONF_BASED_IO option into ARM_IO_IN_DTB.
- use the ARM_IO_IN_DTB option to compile out io_policies moved in dtb.
- propagate DEFINES when parsing dts.
- use ARM_IO_IN_DTB to include or not uuid nodes in fw_config dtb.
- set the ARM_IO_IN_DTB to 0 by default for fvp. This ensure that the behavior
  of fvp stays the same as it was before the introduction of fconf.

Sumit Garg c6ba9b4547 Makefile: Add support to optionally encrypt BL31 and BL32
Following build flags have been added to support optional firmware
encryption:

- FW_ENC_STATUS: Top level firmware's encryption numeric flag, values:
    0: Encryption is done with Secret Symmetric Key (SSK) which is
       common for a class of devices.
    1: Encryption is done with Binding Secret Symmetric Key (BSSK) which
       is unique per device.

- ENC_KEY: A 32-byte (256-bit) symmetric key in hex string format. It
    could be SSK or BSSK depending on FW_ENC_STATUS flag.

- ENC_NONCE: A 12-byte (96-bit) encryption nonce or Initialization Vector
    (IV) in hex string format.

- ENCRYPT_BL31: Binary flag to enable encryption of BL31 firmware.

- ENCRYPT_BL32: Binary flag to enable encryption of Secure BL32 payload.

Similar flags can be added to encrypt other firmwares as well depending
on use-cases.

Petre-Ionut Tudor 60e8f3cfd5 Read-only xlat tables for BL31 memory
This patch introduces a build flag which allows the xlat tables
to be mapped in a read-only region within BL31 memory. It makes it
much harder for someone who has acquired the ability to write to
arbitrary secure memory addresses to gain control of the
translation tables.

The memory attributes of the descriptors describing the tables
themselves are changed to read-only secure data. This change
happens at the end of BL31 runtime setup. Until this point, the
tables have read-write permissions. This gives a window of
opportunity for changes to be made to the tables with the MMU on
(e.g. reclaiming init code). No changes can be made to the tables
with the MMU turned on from this point onwards. This change is also
enabled for sp_min and tspd.

To make all this possible, the base table was moved to .rodata. The
penalty we pay is that now .rodata must be aligned to the size of
the base table (512B alignment). Still, this is better than putting
the base table with the higher level tables in the xlat_table
section, as that would cost us a full 4KB page.

Changing the tables from read-write to read-only cannot be done with
the MMU on, as the break-before-make sequence would invalidate the
descriptor which resolves the level 3 page table where that very
descriptor is located. This would make the translation required for
writing the changes impossible, generating an MMU fault.

The caches are also flushed.

Masahiro Yamada d986bae4e2 Build: support per-BL LDFLAGS
make_helpers/build_macros.mk supports per-BL CFLAGS. For example,
you can pass compiler flags only to BL31 by using BL31_CFLAGS.

This commit adds per-BL LDFLAGS support, which is useful as well.

My main motivation of this addition is to use it for ENABLE_PIE.
When ENABLE_PIE is enabled, some linker flags are added to TF_LDFLAGS,
which affects all the TF images. It will make more sense to pass the
relevant options only to BL images that support it.

Samuel Holland f8578e641b bl31: Split into two separate memory regions
Some platforms are extremely memory constrained and must split BL31

Because the NOBITS region may be at a lower address than the rest of

Paul Beesley 3f3c341ae5 Remove dependency between SPM_MM and ENABLE_SPM build flags
There are two different implementations of Secure Partition
management in TF-A. One is based on the "Management Mode" (MM)
design, the other is based on the Secure Partition Client Interface
(SPCI) specification. Currently there is a dependency between their
build flags that shouldn't exist, making further development
harder than it should be. This patch removes that
dependency, making the two flags function independently.

Before: ENABLE_SPM=1 is required for using either implementation.
        By default, the SPCI-based implementation is enabled and
        this is overridden if SPM_MM=1.

After: ENABLE_SPM=1 enables the SPCI-based implementation.
       SPM_MM=1 enables the MM-based implementation.
       The two build flags are mutually exclusive.

Note that the name of the ENABLE_SPM flag remains a bit
ambiguous - this will be improved in a subsequent patch. For this
patch the intention was to leave the name as-is so that it is
easier to track the changes that were made.

zelalem-aweke edbce9aad4 Enable Link Time Optimization in GCC
This patch enables LTO for TF-A when compiled with GCC.
LTO is disabled by default and is enabled by
ENABLE_LTO=1 build option.

LTO is enabled only for aarch64 as there seem to be
a bug in the aarch32 compiler when LTO is enabled.

The changes in the makefiles include:
- Adding -flto and associated flags to enable LTO.
- Using gcc as a wrapper at link time instead of ld.
  This is recommended when using LTO as gcc internally
  takes care of invoking the necessary plugins for LTO.
- Adding switches to pass options to ld.
- Adding a flag to disable fix for erratum cortex-a53-843419
  unless explicitly enabled. This is needed because GCC
  seem to automatically add the erratum fix when used
  as a wrapper for LD.

Additionally, this patch updates the TF-A user guide with

Soby Mathew c97cba4ea4 Fix the CAS spinlock implementation
Make the spinlock implementation use ARMv8.1-LSE CAS instruction based
on a platform build option. The CAS-based implementation used to be
unconditionally selected for all ARM8.1+ platforms.

The previous CAS spinlock implementation had a bug wherein the spin_unlock()
implementation had an `sev` after `stlr` which is not sufficient. A dsb is
needed to ensure that the stlr completes prior to the sev. Having a dsb is
heavyweight and a better solution would be to use load exclusive semantics
to monitor the lock and wake up from wfe when a store happens to the lock.
The patch implements the same.

Julius Werner 402b3cf876 Switch AARCH32/AARCH64 to __aarch64__
NOTE: AARCH32/AARCH64 macros are now deprecated in favor of __aarch64__.

All common C compilers pre-define the same macros to signal which
architecture the code is being compiled for: __arm__ for AArch32 (or
earlier versions) and __aarch64__ for AArch64. There's no need for TF-A
to define its own custom macros for this. In order to unify code with
the export headers (which use __aarch64__ to avoid another dependency),
let's deprecate the AARCH32 and AARCH64 macros and switch the code base
over to the pre-defined standard macro. (Since it is somewhat
unintuitive that __arm__ only means AArch32, let's standardize on only
using __aarch64__.)

NOTE: __ASSEMBLY__ macro is now deprecated in favor of __ASSEMBLER__.

All common C compilers predefine a macro called __ASSEMBLER__ when
preprocessing a .S file. There is no reason for TF-A to define it's own
__ASSEMBLY__ macro for this purpose instead. To unify code with the
export headers (which use __ASSEMBLER__ to avoid one extra dependency),
let's deprecate __ASSEMBLY__ and switch the code base over to the
predefined standard.

Alexei Fedorov 9fc59639e6 Add support for Branch Target Identification
This patch adds the functionality needed for platforms to provide
Branch Target Identification (BTI) extension, introduced to AArch64
in Armv8.5-A by adding BTI instruction used to mark valid targets
for indirect branches. The patch sets new GP bit [50] to the stage 1
Translation Table Block and Page entries to denote guarded EL3 code
pages which will cause processor to trap instructions in protected
pages trying to perform an indirect branch to any instruction other
than BTI.
BTI feature is selected by BRANCH_PROTECTION option which supersedes
the previous ENABLE_PAUTH used for Armv8.3-A Pointer Authentication
and is disabled by default. Enabling BTI requires compiler support
and was tested with GCC versions 9.0.0, 9.0.1 and 10.0.0.
The assembly macros and helpers are modified to accommodate the BTI
instruction.
This is an experimental feature.
Note. The previous ENABLE_PAUTH build option to enable PAuth in EL3
is now made as an internal flag and BRANCH_PROTECTION flag should be
used instead to enable Pointer Authentication.
Note. USE_LIBROM=1 option is currently not supported.

On certain platforms it does not make sense to generate

Antonio Nino Diaz 5283962eba Add ARMv8.3-PAuth registers to CPU context
ARMv8.3-PAuth adds functionality that supports address authentication of
the contents of a register before that register is used as the target of
an indirect branch, or as a load.

This feature is supported only in AArch64 state.

This feature is mandatory in ARMv8.3 implementations.

This feature adds several registers to EL1. A new option called
CTX_INCLUDE_PAUTH_REGS has been added to select if the TF needs to save
them during Non-secure <-> Secure world switches. This option must be
enabled if the hardware has the registers or the values will be leaked
during world switches.

To prevent leaks, this patch also disables pointer authentication in the
Secure world if CTX_INCLUDE_PAUTH_REGS is 0. Any attempt to use it will
be trapped in EL3.

Antonio Nino Diaz 2d7b9e5e7f SPM: Deprecate the current implementation
The current SPM is a prototype that only supports one secure partition
in EL0. The objective of SPM is to have multiple partitions. The current
MM interface isn't adequate for this, so it is needed to modify heavily
the code to add proper support for it.

However, there are platforms which are already using this (like SGI) and
removing the code would break it. For this reason, the current SPM code
has been duplicated in order to temporarily preserve compatibility. All
new improvements/changes to SPM will be done in the non-deprecated copy,
that may change without notice.

The new build option SPM_DEPRECATED has been introduced to select the SPM
implementation. It defaults to 1, that selects the deprecated SPM.

Andre Przywara ee1ba6d4dd Makefile: Support totally quiet output with -s
"-s" is a command line option to the make tool, to suppress normal output,
something to the effect of prepending every line with '@' in the Makefile.
However with our V={0|1} support, we now print the shortened command line
output in any case (even with V=1, in addition to the long line!).
Normally -s helps to not miss non-fatal warnings, which tend to scroll out
of the window easily.

Introduce a new Makefile variable ECHO, to control the shortened output.
We only set it in the (current default) V=0 case, and replace every
occurence of "@echo" with that variable.
When the user specifies "-s", we set ECHO to some magic string which
changes the output line into a comment, so the output is suppressed.

Beside suppressing every output for "-s", we also avoid the redundant
short output when compiling with V=1.

This changes the output to:
==========

This patch adds build system support to enable RAS features in ARM
Trusted Firmware. A boolean build option RAS_EXTENSION is introduced for
this.

With RAS_EXTENSION, an Exception Synchronization Barrier (ESB) is
inserted at all EL3 vector entry and exit. ESBs will synchronize pending
external aborts before entering EL3, and therefore will contain and
attribute errors to lower EL execution. Any errors thus synchronized are
detected via. DISR_EL1 register.

When RAS_EXTENSION is set to 1, HANDLE_EL3_EA_FIRST must also be set to 1.

Jeenu Viswambharan 76454abf4a AArch64: Introduce External Abort handling
At present, any External Abort routed to EL3 is reported as an unhandled
exception and cause a panic. This patch enables ARM Trusted Firmware to
handle External Aborts routed to EL3.

With this patch, when an External Abort is received at EL3, its handling
is delegated to plat_ea_handler() function. Platforms can provide their
own implementation of this function. This patch adds a weak definition
of the said function that prints out a message and just panics.

In order to support handling External Aborts at EL3, the build option
HANDLE_EA_EL3_FIRST must be set to 1.

Before this patch, HANDLE_EA_EL3_FIRST wasn't passed down to
compilation; this patch fixes that too.

Antonio Nino Diaz 2f37046524 Add support for the SMC Calling Convention 2.0
Due to differences in the bitfields of the SMC IDs, it is not possible
to support SMCCC 1.X and 2.0 at the same time.

The behaviour of `SMCCC_MAJOR_VERSION` has changed. Now, it is a build
option that specifies the major version of the SMCCC that the Trusted
Firmware supports. The only two allowed values are 1 and 2, and it
defaults to 1. The value of `SMCCC_MINOR_VERSION` is derived from it.

Note: Support for SMCCC v2.0 is an experimental feature to enable
prototyping of secure partition specifications. Support for this
convention is disabled by default and could be removed without notice.

Jiafei Pan 7d173fc594 Add support for BL2 in XIP memory
In some use-cases BL2 will be stored in eXecute In Place (XIP) memory,
like BL1. In these use-cases, it is necessary to initialize the RW sections
in RAM, while leaving the RO sections in place. This patch enable this
use-case with a new build option, BL2_IN_XIP_MEM. For now, this option
is only supported when BL2_AT_EL3 is 1.

Dan Handley bc1a03c7a6 Improve MULTI_CONSOLE_API deprecation warnings
For platforms that have not migrated to MULTI_CONSOLE_API == 1, there
are a lot of confusing deprecated declaration warnings relating to
use of console_init() and console_uninit(). Some of these relate to use
by the generic code, not the platform code. These functions are not really
deprecated but *removed* when MULTI_CONSOLE_API == 1.

This patch consolidates these warnings into a single preprocessor warning.
The __deprecated attribute is removed from the console_init() and
console_uninit() declarations.

For preprocessor warnings like this to not cause fatal build errors,
this patch adds -Wno-error=cpp to the build flags when
ERROR_DEPRECATED == 0.
This option (and -Wno-error=deprecated-declarations) is now added to
CPPFLAGS instead of TF_CFLAGS to ensure the build flags are used in the
assembler as well as the compiler.

This patch also disentangles the MULTI_CONSOLE_API and ERROR_DEPRECATED
build flags by defaulting MULTI_CONSOLE_API to 0 instead of
ERROR_DEPRECATED. This allows platforms that have not migrated to
MULTI_CONSOLE_API to use ERROR_DEPRECATED == 1 to emit a more meaningful
build error.

Finally, this patch bans use of MULTI_CONSOLE_API == 1 and AARCH32, since
the AArch32 console implementation does not support
MULTI_CONSOLE_API == 1.

Masahiro Yamada 14db8908bc Build: add GZIP compression filter
One typical usage of the pre-tool image filter is data compression,
and GZIP is one of the most commonly used compression methods.
I guess this is generic enough to be put in the common script instead
of platform.mk.

If you want to use this, you can add something like follows to your
platform.mk:

    BL32_PRE_TOOL_FILTER := GZIP
    BL33_PRE_TOOL_FILTER := GZIP

Masahiro Yamada 2da522bb4e Build: support pre-tool image processing
There are cases where we want to process images before they are
passed to cert_create / fiptool.

My main motivation is data compression. By compressing images, we can
save data storage, and possibly speed up loading images. The image
verification will also get faster because certificates are generated
based on compressed images.

Other image transformation filters (for ex. encryption), and their
combinations would be possible. So, our build system should support
transformation filters in a generic manner.

The choice of applied filters is up to platforms (so specified in
platform.mk)

To define a new filter, <FILTER_NAME>_RULE and <FILTER_NAME>_SUFFIX
are needed.

For example, the GZIP compression filter can be implemented as follows:

------------------------>8------------------------
define GZIP_RULE
$(1): $(2)
        @echo "  GZIP    $$@"
        $(Q)gzip -n -f -9 $$< --stdout > $$@
endef

GZIP_SUFFIX := .gz
------------------------>8------------------------

The _RULE defines how to create the target $(1) from the source $(2).
The _SUFFIX defines the extension appended to the processed image path.
The suffix is not so important because the file name information is not
propagated to FIP, but adding a sensible suffix will be good to classify
the data file.

Platforms can specify which filter is applied to which BL image, like
this:

------------------------>8------------------------
BL32_PRE_TOOL_FILTER := GZIP
BL33_PRE_TOOL_FILTER := GZIP
------------------------>8------------------------

<IMAGE_NAME>_PRE_TOOL_FILTER specifies per-image filter. With this,
different images can be transformed differently. For the case above,
only BL32 and BL33 are GZIP-compressed. Nothing is done for other
images.

Masahiro Yamada 33950dd8fe Build: change the first parameter of TOOL_ADD_IMG to lowercase
In the next commit, I need the image name in lowercase because
output files are generally named in lowercase.

Unfortunately, TOOL_ADD_IMG takes the first argument in uppercase
since we generally use uppercase Make variables.

make_helpers/build_macros.mk provides 'uppercase' macro to convert
a string into uppercase, but 'lowercase' does not exist. We can
implement it if we like, but it would be more straightforward to
change the argument of TOOL_ADD_IMG.

Masahiro Yamada f30ee0b9c0 Build: move cert_create arguments and dependency to FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD
The fiptool and cert_create use the same command options for images.
It is pretty easy to handle both in the same, symmetrical way.

Move CRT_ARGS and CRT_DEPS to FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD. This refactoring makes
sense because FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD is called from MAKE_BL (when building
images from source), and from FIP_ADD_IMG (when including external
images). (FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD will be renamed later on since it now
caters to both fiptool and cert_create).

We can delete CERT_ADD_CMD_OPT for images in tbbr.mk. It still
needs to call CERT_ADD_CMD_OPT directly for certificates.

Masahiro Yamada 1dc0714f10 Build: merge build macros between FIP_ and FWU_FIP_
The build system supports generating two FIP images, fip and fwu_fip.
Accordingly, we have similar build macros.

   FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD   <-->  FWU_FIP_ADD_PAYLOAD
   CERT_ADD_CMD_OPT  <-->  FWU_CERT_ADD_CMD_OPT
   FIP_ADD_IMG       <-->  FWU_FIP_ADD_IMG

The duplicated code increases the maintenance burden. Also, the build
rule of BL2U looks clumsy - we want to call MAKE_BL to compile it from
source files, but we want to put it in fwu_fip. We can not do it in a
single macro call since the current MAKE_BL does not support fwu_fip.

To refactor those in a clean way is to support one more argument to
specify the FIP prefix. If it is empty, the images are targeted to
fip, whereas if the argument is "FWU_", targeted to fwu_fip.

The build macros prefixed with FWU_ go away.
